For ten years I was employed by Purdue University in a bakery at Hillenbrand Hall. Since the bakery was open to the public we got requests for wedding cakes. The bakery was not equipped to do wedding cakes. This got me started in the business and the first year I did two wedding cakes. Now I produce approximately 100 wedding cakes per year. At Purdue I was not impressed with the icing that we used on our cakes and other baked goods. It came in a 5-gallon bucket and had very little taste. In my search for the perfect icing I found the key to good icing is using real vanilla from Mexico. |
My Hearts Desire was named because my co worker at Purdue, whom taught me to decorate cakes, always said to me to "put what ever your heart desires" when I was decorating cakes.

Just in the past 10 years I have found myself to be Mother of the Groom, Mother of the Bride and involved in many weddings. Being involved in all of these weddings made me realize that I needed to bring all of my talents out in the wedding process. I do alterations as well as designing and making wedding dresses. This is not limited to the bride dresses; I also have made bride purses, ring pillows, bridesmaid's dresses, mother's dresses, flower girl dresses and cummerbunds. |
I also found that the need was there for a good caterer. Considering my family history of one grandmother owning a restaurant and the other cooking for thrashers, I already had the experience and love of cooking. I found out about serving large numbers of people during my time at Hillenbrand. Catering is very satisfying for me because I not only get the enjoyment of preparing the food, but I also get to socialize while serving.
I hope to help you with your wedding or event in the best manner possible and provide for you what ever your heart desires.
